The people

A family business,
built around your dog.

Christian Scharphorn founded Angier K9 and leads the behavior work: he evaluates cases and guides each individual plan, with a focus on working breeds, complex behavior challenges and the service and protection programs.

His brother, Kelton Azuara-Walker, is co-owner and head trainer. Kelton leads day-to-day training, takes on the harder cases and does all of Angier K9’s social media work, so families can see the training and the people behind it.

Around them is the rest of the family and team: Claudia, Christian’s wife, builds the everyday foundations; Gemma, Kelton’s wife, keeps families informed and connected from the first conversation onward; their son Jayden trains alongside the team; and Connor, a close family friend, guides daily training.

How we train

The dog in front of us.
Then the family.

Every plan starts with the individual dog: their personality, history, confidence and what motivates them. Play is central to how we teach, and a large part of the learning happens on real walks: parks, busy downtown areas, dog-friendly stores and everyday places.

Your dog stays and trains with our team, and you join three full owner lessons, so you learn the same cues, handling and daily maintenance. The goal is a dog who listens at home, not only with us.
